Undergraduate Program Major and Minor Requirements

Requirements for the Major
*for students beginning in the Fall 2012 and later

Upper level coursework for Women's & Gender Studies Majors
Each major must complete 36 hours distributed as follows:

I. Required Core Courses (15 hours)

 

 

 

 

 

 

WST 3015 Intro to Women's Studies (3)
WST 3311 Issues in Feminism (3)
WST 4002 Feminist Research Methods (3)
WST 4522 Classics in Feminist Theory (3) OR
WST 4561 Contemporary Feminist Theory (3)
WST 4935 Capstone/Senior Project

II. Electives: Select 21 credit hours from the list of approved courses in the USF Undergraduate Catalog.

Students taking Women's and Gender Studies as a second major need to complete only 30 credit hours. See the academic advisor for more information.

 

Requirements for the Minor
*for students beginning Fall 2012 and later
A student wishing to minor in Women's and Gender Studies will be required to take six courses:
I. Required (6 hours)
  WST 3015 Intro to Women's Studies (3)
AND one of the following:
WST 3311, WST 4002, WST 4522, WST 4561
II. Electives: Plus 12 credit hours of any WST courses with at least two courses at the 4000 level and above.
