Who I am: For the last 11 summers, I've been a summer camp counselor for various organizations throughout the Midwest (e.g. The Association of Horizon, The Muscular Dystrophy Association, With A Little Help, Taylor Bug Kisses, Great Lakes Burn Camp) that cater to people with disabilities. Not surprisingly, I am very interested in all things related to the body! In May 2015, I graduated from Northeastern Illinois University with a BA in Sociology with a minor in LGBTQ Studies. I like to think about the various ways that our bodies are understood (in terms of dis/ability, gender, sex, age, race, size, sexuality, etc) and how those understandings play key roles in how we are able to navigate our lives. I'm hoping to research more about how traditional gendered expectations of household labor and childcare vary in the presence of disability (as well as the influence of race and class), and about how disability struggles and concerns continue to be left in the dust by various minority groups, political movements, and academic pursuits.

What I love: I LOVE intersectional thinking, day-to-day acts of activism, and listening to/learning from the lived experiences of people who live different lives than I have/will. I also love delicious vegan foods, summer camp, dancing, Chris, being on the Board of Directors for The Association of Horizon, being outside, and my dogs, Nash and Zoe! As a native Chicagoan, I'm very excited to be spending the next few winters in The Sunshine State at USF!
